TDCJ inmate charged with cold case murder

A man who is already in state prison on an unrelated case under a different name has been accused in a fatal shooting in north Houston nearly 11 years ago. Javier Gutierrez, 34, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Cruz Puebla, 42, at 8001 Fulton about 10 p.m. Oct. 3, 2000, according to the Houston Police Department.
